1. Never Leave Baby Unattended
Even if your baby hasn’t started rolling yet, they can still wiggle and shift unexpectedly. That’s why I never leave a baby alone on a beanbag, prop, or posing surface—not even for a second.
Your photographer should always keep a hand near your baby or have a trained assistant nearby. This is one of the most important rules of baby safety during photography sessions.
2. Only Use Safe Posing Techniques
Those perfectly posed images? Many are actually composites—two or more images seamlessly blended together in editing to create the illusion of one complex pose. This ensures your baby is never placed in an unsafe position.
As an Eldersburg newborn photographer, I prioritize poses that support baby’s body and never force them into positions they can’t naturally maintain. If a pose doesn’t work for your baby, we skip it. Period.

Swaddles should feel snug—but never too tight. Throughout the session, I continuously check your baby’s chest movement and facial color to ensure they’re breathing comfortably, whether wrapped or free.
